Getting to know… Mark Lateu

Long-standing team member Mark Lateu has been an integral part of ROMAR International for over ten years. From Offshore Engineer to Service Delivery Manager, Mark has extensive knowledge and experience and has seen ROMAR grow from a team of four to the global provider we are today.

“When I look back, it’s astonishing to see how far ROMAR has come in such a short space of time. What was once a small team of four primarily operating in the North Sea has quickly grown into an extensive team of employees and contractors supporting customers worldwide.”

“Before joining ROMAR in 2011, I had a varied career ahead of venturing into the oil and gas sector. Originally, I was a member of the military and then found myself driving across Europe for an international supermarket chain.”

“While my initial path was diverse, one element of my career that has remained consistent is travel. I’ve spent a large majority of my life travelling the world through my work, and my time at ROMAR has been no different. I’ve been fortunate to travel to incredible parts of the globe on behalf of ROMAR, including Asia Pacific, USA and Africa.”

“One of the most memorable moments from my travels has to be presenting to a Well Abandonment Team in Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. It was quite something overlooking the city while waving the flag for ROMAR amongst global powerhouses in the industry. To my delight, we were awarded the work!”

“If you name a role at ROMAR, I’ve most likely been involved. I initially started as an Offshore Service Engineer. I then found myself working as an Operations Co-ordinator and Technical Support Lead, which led me to my current position of Service Delivery Manager.”

“As Service Delivery Manager, I oversee the workshop team, operations, equipment procurement and support business development. It’s been a substantial change from working as Technical Support , but I’ve enjoyed leading my colleagues and implementing meaningful change to support the future of the company.”

“Over the past ten years, I’ve gained vast knowledge and understanding of the oil and gas sector and its ever-changing complexities concerning decommissioning and the need for innovative technology to improve safety and efficiency. I’m proud to be part of an organisation at the forefront of providing pioneering solutions for SWARF handling, mud spill prevention and environmental protection.”

“I look forward to seeing what the future holds for ROMAR, and there are certainly some exciting times ahead. Between our recent partnership with our sister company in America and continued growth in the global market, it feels like anything is possible.”
